What’s The Deal With Delta-10? Answers To The 8 Biggest Questions

Delta-8: the cannabinoid that swept the nation, is legal in most states, and is now sold everywhere from smoke shops to gas stations. Delta-9: the classic, the OG, the powerhouse. But what about Delta-10? Read on to find out everything that you’ve always wanted to know about this relatively new cannabinoid that’s quickly gaining popularity among people in the know.

What is D10?

Delta 10-Tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as Delta-10 THC, Delta10, or just D10, is a rare but naturally-occurring cannabinoid. It’s found in very small amounts in hemp (the kind with less than 0.3% THC that was made federally legal with the 2018 Farm Bill). Once it’s been extracted and processed, D8 can be sold legally in most states in the USA (and in your favorite online smoke shops)!

How is D10 Made?

Just like D8 and other rare cannabinoids, D10 is processed from hemp-derived CBD extract. It’s a little bit harder to isolate and extract Delta-10 than Delta-8, but believe us—it’s worth it. Because it exists in such small amounts and is so difficult to extract, D10 is still a little bit harder to get your hands on than D8. It’s often a little bit more expensive, too, but as it becomes more popular, you can expect to see more and more of it. (Speaking of which, you’re in the right place! Read on to find out where you can get the best D10 products…)

How is D10 different than D8?

Delta-10 is pretty comparable to Delta-8, but D10 has a few traits that make it special.

For the chemistry fans among us, the “10” in Delta-10 refers to where the double bond is. In D8 it’s on the 8th carbon bond, in D9 (good old fashioned THC) it’s on the 9th carbon bond, and in D10 it’s on the 10thcarbon bond. Other than that, the cannabinoids are all pretty similar on the molecular level. This means that you can expect similar psychoactive effects from all of them.

That being said, there are some differences. D8 is much less potent than D9 (a lot of estimates put it at about half as potent). D10 is slightly less potent than D8, but not by much. Both D8 and D10 bond primarily with your CB2 cannabinoid receptor, which means that they’ll both give you a much more mellow high than regular D9 THC. D8 and D10 both typically produce more of a body high as well, with less of an impact on your thinking. The specific effects of D8 and D10 are slightly different as well. D10 is typically a little bit more uplifting than D8—if D8 is like an indica strain, then D10 is more like a sativa strain.

(Here’s a handy cheat for those of us who get “sativa” and “indica” mixed up: sativa-dominant strains tend to be energizing, while indica-dominant strains are usually more relaxing. Think “in-da-couch!”)

What does D10 Feel Like?

Like we mentioned, D8 and D10 are pretty similar in terms of potency and effects.

D10 tends to produce a mellow but motivated high with gentle energy and slight euphoria. After a moderate dose of D10, you can expect to feel uplifted and relatively clear-headed, with more of a body than a head high.

D10 is perfect for starting an art project, going hard at the gym, or just getting your daily chores done. No matter what you’re planning on doing after your next sesh, we know D10 will complement it perfectly!

Many Delta-10 users and enthusiasts report similar benefits as Delta-8. Delta-10 can provide feelings of stress-relief and relaxation without the intense psychoactivity that high-THC Delta-9 products can sometimes produce.

Will D10 Show up on a Drug Test?

Unfortunately, yes (just like D8). Even though it’s legal in most states, the body processes D10 in the same way as D9. This means that D8, D9, and D10 all get turned into the same metabolites that can cause you to fail a drug test that screens for Delta-9 THC. (Another one for the science fans out there—the metabolite is 11-hydroxy-THC.)

Is D10 Safe?

Just like all of the other rare cannabinoids out there, not much research has been done into Delta-10. However, the research that there is so far strongly suggests that D10 is just as safe as any other cannabinoid when purchased from a trusted retailer and used responsibly by adults.

Remember: even though it’s not as potent as conventional THC, Delta-10 is still a psychoactive cannabinoid. Even if you’re an experienced cannabis user, your tolerance for other cannabinoids might not carry over to Delta-10. Take it slow until you know how D10 affects you personally.

Additionally, Bay Smokes rigorously tests all of our cannabinoid products to ensure the highest possible safety and purity for our customers. You’re in good hands!

Is D10 Legal?

In a lot of places, yes! The 2018 Farm Bill made hemp and hemp products legal on the federal level. Our D10 is extracted from natural, legally-grown hemp and is therefore federally legal. Unfortunately, some states have since banned the sale of D10 products. We cannot ship to states that have expressly banned the sale, possession, or consumption of D10 and there will be no shipping options available at checkout for these states.

D10 is currently legal and able to be shipped to Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

However, this isn’t legal advice. If you have questions about your state’s local laws, you’ll need to consult with an attorney.
