14Mm Vs 18Mm
Selecting the correct
joint size
is the most important step to ensure your new bowl fits perfectly. Our Dichro Galaxy Bowl comes with a male joint, designed to fit into a female joint on your water pipe. The two standard sizes are 14mm and 18mm.
Is A 14Mm Or 18Mm Male Bowl Right For My Piece?
Your choice depends entirely on the size of the female joint on your bong. A 14mm bowl is roughly the size of a pinky finger, while an 18mm bowl is closer to the size of an index finger. Unsure what you have? You can often place a dime over the opening; if it sits on top without falling in, you likely have a 14mm joint. If it falls inside, it's probably 18mm.
14Mm Male Bowl
Pros:
The most common size for small to medium bongs. Offers a slightly more restricted airflow which many find ideal for flavor.
Cons:
Smaller capacity, may require more frequent packing.
18Mm Male Bowl
Pros:
Larger capacity for bigger packs and group sessions. Provides wider airflow for bigger, faster rips.
Cons:
Typically found on larger pieces; may overwhelm smaller bongs.
Evidence: The bowl is available in both 14mm and 18mm male joint options.
Evidence: 14mm joints are the common standard for most small-to-mid-sized bongs.
Evidence: 18mm joints allow for greater airflow and a larger packing volume.
How Does It Compare To Other Bowls Under $30?
At $25.99, the Dichro Galaxy Bowl offers a premium, artistic option in a competitive price range. While basic bowls get the job done, this piece provides an aesthetic upgrade without breaking the bank.
What Are Some Alternative Bong Bowl Styles?
The world of bong bowl pieces includes a wide variety of shapes, materials, and functions. Understanding the alternatives can help you appreciate what makes the Dichro Galaxy Bowl a unique choice for those who want visual flair and solid construction.
Evidence: The bowl's main feature is its unique dichroic glass design.
Evidence: Standard clear bowls are cheaper but lack visual appeal.
Evidence: Other functional bowls exist in the same price range, but lack the artistic flair.
How To Clean And Maintain Your Dichro Glass Bowl
Proper care will keep your Dichro Spotted Galaxy Bowl looking vibrant and functioning perfectly for years. Due to the special dichroic layer, we recommend gentle cleaning to preserve its unique finish.
Can You Clean Dichroic Glass Without Damaging The Finish?
Yes, cleaning dichroic glass is simple and safe if you avoid harsh abrasives. The best method is to use a solution of isopropyl alcohol and coarse salt. Place the bowl in a sealable bag or container with the solution, shake gently for a few minutes, and then rinse thoroughly with warm water. This method removes residue without scratching the dichroic layer. For all your maintenance needs, check out our selection of
